Cris Izaguirre is a trans/gnc, immigrant, born in Nicaragua & raised in Brooklyn. After over a decade of non-profit work with such organizations such as Lambda Legal, El/La ParaTransLatinas and C.U.A.V (Community United Against Violence), Cris has turned to urban agriculture as a tool for healing and self determination. They hold a certificate in Ecological Horticulture from the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems at U.C. Santa Cruz. Cris has also worked on permaculture/Native Hawaiian farms on the Big Island of Hawaii. Currently Cris is the Farm Manager for KCC Urban Farm at Kingsborough Community College. Cris is passionate about the intersections of race/gender/sexuality/class and food justice, documenting crop histories, and in the food sovereignty for people of color.
