Sonya joined the Just Food staff in 2014. As the Farm-to-Pantry Manager, she helps bring local produce to food pantries and soup kitchens in all five boroughs of New York City. Sonya comes to the organization with diverse experience across the food sector, having worked for a range of businesses and non-profits like Slow Food NYC, the Fort Greene Compost Project, the Cellars at Jasper Hill, and Just Food, where she interned in 2010. Prior to moving to New York City, Sonya worked on farms and gardens around the globe, in places like Bangladesh, Italy, New Hampshire, and California, and is excited to bring her passion for healthy, sustainably-grown food to urban residents. She received a Master's degree in Food Studies from New York University and holds a BA in Art History from Wesleyan University. She is an avid gardener and proud member of the Greene Hill CSA.
